Reuse: Outfit #1

This outfit has two great Reused pieces:

Skinny jeans: Goodwill, $7.99
Rose sweater: Buy Nothing, $0.00

Acquiring these pieces used saved me over $100, and kept them out of the landfill. I was shocked to read the other day that Goodwill is only able to sell about 30% of their donations, and they are on the high end of the spectrum, with the average thrift store selling only about 20%. For the remainder, the clothes are then passed on to textile recyclers or other countries. Read more here

For the sweater, I was able to give it another home before it even made it to a thrift store. If you haven't heard of Buy Nothing, check it out! They are hyper local groups (for example, mine is for only two small towns on the the south side of Seattle) whose only real rules are: give items freely that you don't need and ask for items you do. I've seen many things given, ranging from furniture, to clothing, to excess food from one's garden.
